Gandhi Study Circle

Gandhi Study Circle of Shaheed Bhagat Singh College aim to promote the study and application
of Mahatma Gandhi’s teachings and principles among the younger generation. The circle delves into
Gandhi’s writings, speeches and actions, and how they relate to contemporary issues and challenges.
Gandhi’s role in the making of the Indian nation is truly unparalleled, as he was not only a freedom
fighter but also a multifaceted individual, encompassing the roles of a theorist, philosopher, social
reformer, lawyer, and saint. Mahatma Gandhi was a towering figure in India’s struggle for
independence from British rule and he is fondly remembered as Gandhiji or Bapu. His philosophy of
nonviolent resistance, Satyagraha, became a powerful tool in various civil rights movements across
the globe. Gandhi’s leadership and commitment to nonviolence and truth inspired millions and played
a crucial role in India’s attainment of independence. His principles of peace, tolerance, and social
justice continue to be revered and studied worldwide.

 Gandhi Study Circle of Shaheed Bhagat Singh College aim to promote the study and application
of Mahatma Gandhi’s teachings and principles among the younger generation. It thrives to inculcate
academic discourse , debates and discussions on his ideas and philosophy.The circle delves into
Gandhi’s writings, speeches and actions, and how they relate to contemporary issues and challenges.

 Gandhi Study Circle aims to organise events such as debate, discussions, workshops, talks and
screening of movies and documentaries on the topics related to Gandhi’s life and philosophy,
including non-violence, self- reliance and social justice. The circle may also engage in community
service projects that aligns with Gandhian principles such as cleanliness drive (Swachh Bharat
Abhiyaan) and organising environmental campaigns.

The objective of Gandhi Study Circle in the College is to inspire students to become more engaged
and socially responsible citizens, and to encourage them to apply Gandhi’s teachings to their lives and
communities.
